Unit price perSerpico is the flagship Mitolo Cabernet and is made using the Amarone technique of drying grapes before fermentation. This process concentrates flavour, contributing mid palate plushness, complexity and mouth coating silky tannins.
Winemaker Ben Glaetzer describes it incredibly aptly, we think, as a brooding, dark and deliciously seductive red. Its smoothness is thanks to the dried grape winemaking method, which provides intensely rich and concentrated dark fruit flavours to an already powerful grape variety ? Cabernet Sauvignon. The dried grape method also seems to soften and smooth Cabernet?s sometimes edgy tannin structure by providing a suppleness and richness to the palate.
This wine was named after one of Frank Mitolo?s heroes, namely Frank Serpico, who fought crime in the United States police force.
Like it namesake, this is powerful, structured and focussed.
This is a wine for now or the long haul in a good cellar.
From the winery
This wine is much like the man it is named after, Frank Serpico, who went against all odds to expose an immense depth of corruption in the New York police force

Unit price perIt's no secret that great Chardonnay is made in beautiful rolling Moutere Hills in Nelson, which is home to the clay based vineyard where this wine comes from. Hand picked grapes were pressed into French oak cuves, where they went through spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts followed by malolactic fermentation and minimal filtration at bottling. This wine is fresh, dry, full bodied and creamy, balanced by nutty and citrus flavours.

Unit price perWinemaker Karl Johner has a foot in at least three wine camps; the lime-clay hillside slopes of Lime Hill Vineyard is the smallest of them and is situated on the road to Castlepoint in the northern Wairarapa.
An outstanding New Zealand Chardonnay made from that site; its production is tiny but its fleshy, full body and creamy style more than make up for that.
He also makes wine every year at Gladstone in the Wairarapa and, since the seasons are reversed in each hemisphere, in Germany.

Unit price perAll the grapes from this wine are from our Dry River Estate vineyard, with the majority from our first planted vines in 1979. These are dry-grown vines yielding very small bunches and berries. The idea is for this wine to transcend varietal archetype, where the wine is the wine, standing outside its category.
We want to bring you a distinctive Dry River expression of Pinot Gris. The wine is perfect to enjoy young with food, but will further improve over the next five years.
Wet stone, mineral notes and riper characters of kiwi fruit, pears and stone fruit greet the nose. Further complexity is driven by long maturation on lees in old oak barrels, bringing out cashew nuts and a touch of cream and vanilla. The palate is seamless with transparent tannins and densely-packed fruit that brings the focus to middle and finishes effortlessly.
A very interesting whisky from one of Scotland?s most northerly distilleries, the Orkney-based producer, Scapa! This whisky has been matured in American oak casks, before being finished in barrels that once held smoky, peated malt whisky. This is an excellent, lightly peated dram which serves as a stepping stone to the more powerfully smoky malts of the scotch world. Glansa is a nod to the Nordic history of Orkney, with the term meaning ?shine? in Icelandic and ?gloss? in Norwegian. On the nose, this dram opens up with sweet fruity flavours of pineapple, peach, mango and overripe banana, accompanied by a gentle peat smoke. The palate returns the peach and tropical fruit notes of the nose, adding vanilla and oak flavours with the same elegant smoke. The finish is long, smoky and spiced, with plenty of lingering flavour. A lovely little dram that will appeal to fans of both gentle and powerful whiskies.
