This does sport the hallmark medicinal Laphroaig qualities we all love so much but it's not packing a massive peat punch and so is a great entry whisky to the joys of Islay for someone just starting the Islay journey.

Unit price perBeronia Reserva is made from a selection of the best grapes from the oldest Tempranillo vines, plus some Graciano y Mazuelo. After a spell undergoing cold pre-fermentation maceration and controlled fermentation with periodic pumping over to extract the desired colour and aromas, the wine spent 18 months in mixed French and American oak barrels to create the unmistakable 'Beronia Style'. Lastly the wine was left to rest in the bottle a further 18 months before being released to the market.
Atractive and intriguing on the nose it displays nutty aromas ? roasted almonds, walnuts ? followed by notes of plum primarily but also ripe fruit and a pleasant hint of white pepper, which all add complexity and freshness. Full bodied the palate, the wine displays balanced acidity. The flavours are mostly of ripe fruit, whilst the finish is sweet and smooth, bringing to mind cacao and roasted hazelnuts.
German Rauchbier, a beechwood smoked lager. This also utilises the uncommon technique of ?decoction? mashing. Gentle smoke wafts over toasted grain on the nose, with a distant grassy hop character hiding away. The palate is dynamic, with the smoke kicking things off before the highly expressive malts take over, finally subsiding into a clean and firmly bitter finish. A hugely characterful lager that?s uniquely suited for winter drinking.

Unit price perAlipus San Luis uses agave Espadin that is grown in sandy soil at about 4100 feet above sea level. The soils are sandy with lots of rocks, and the climate is hot. Mezcalero Don Baltazar ferments the cooked agave in 1500-liter pine vats. He distills in copper. His mezcals are rich, full-bodied, and often fruity.

This great southern red from winemaker Malcolm Rees-Francis at Rockburn in Central Otago. Five clones of Pinot Noir (10/5, 5, 6, Abel, 115 and 777) were harvested from two sub regions of Otago; Gibbston and Parkburn then fermented in large open tonne fermenters with the finished wine spending 10 months in French oak, 33% new.
