A fantastic value wine made by John Quarisa of Johhny Q wines.
This is rich and savoury and certainly punches above its weight for the price. Deep red with hints of purple in the glass, the nose is fresh yet decadent, with notes of black cherry, blackberry, chocolate and spice. The palate offers warm spice and ripe berry flavours, complemented by smoke, spice and coffee notes. The finish is soft and smooth

This 100% Shiraz and comes from a blend of two regions, 80% Langhorne Creek, south of Adelaide, and 20% Barossa Valley. It's bright, full bodied, dry and fruity with complexity coming from Shiraz' spicy notes. A fab Aussie red.
The blending of Viognier with Shiraz (aka Syrah) is a traditional French winemaking method from the Northern Rhone Valley appellation of Cote Rotie and some other areas. South Australian winemaker Johnny Quarisa takes his cue from that great wine region and blends a dash of Viognier with this Shiraz to enhance its dark fruit flavours and robust tannic style. The softness and rich fruity flavours that a little Viognier brings adds approachable drinkability to this full bodied dry red. It drinks well now and can further age for three to four years, even at this modest price.

For this inaugural Pirramimma Sparkling Shiraz, PIrramimma selected fragrant cool climate Adelaide Hills Shiraz to blend with the richer McLaren Vale Shiraz, which provided the base wine more complexity. The bouquet showcases red rose, spice, cherry and mulberry, with hints of cedar. The palate is full and generous, showing great texture and mouthfeel, it displays liquorice, spicy black plum, red currant, and blackberry, with a tinge of pepper.

Rockford Wines' legacy
Rockford Wines is an icon itself and a relatively new one, established in 1971 by Robert O'Callaghan, who has forged a reputation for preserving winemaking tradition and saving many of the world's oldest grape vines from being pulled up in the Australian Government's vine pull schemes of the 1970s and 1980s.
The Rockford vintage shed houses equipment from 50 to 100 years ago, which was discarded by other wineries as modernisation took over.
