Unit price perLedaig single malt Scotch whisky is produced at the Tobermory Distillery, the only distillery on the picturesque Hebridean Isle of Mull.
Its name comes from the original name for the area, Ledaig (Led-chig), from the Gaelic, meaning ?safe haven?. Ledaig, unlike Tobermory, is distilled from heavily peated malted barley. During the malting process, burning peat is used to dry the barley in a kiln. The reek from the burning peat is absorbed by the barley through the husk of the grain, and the reek remains through the mashing, fermentation and distillation processes, eventually leading to a single malt with a highly distinctive peaty, smoky taste. The result is an intricate Island Malt Scotch Whisky. The 2011 revamp of Ledaig, with new packaging and a solidly peaty whisky. Good work from Tobermory.

Whisky is full of life. Scotland especially is home to many different species of spirit, from heavy to light, fruity to smoky, and pungent to ethereal. Certain whiskies taste that little bit wilder than others, and we have brought together some of these strange and beautiful creatures to create our Menagerie. We have focused on parcels of malt whisky that in addition to their fruity or spicy charms have something animalic about them just beneath the surface. This is a whisky of mossy woods as opposed to floral meadows; Menagerie is what you put into the hipflask ahead of a Tuscan truffle hunt.
Building on chocolatey and meaty malt whisky from the Mortlach Distillery, we have added whiskies of a citrusy and earthy nature from the Deanston Distillery. Our Highland Malt Blend ? aged for a number of years in custom French oak barrels ? lends a brooding spiciness, while malt whiskies from the Glen Elgin and Laphroaig distilleries bring musky tropical fruit and tarry smoke, respectively.
Glenlivet First Fill American Oak matured for 13 years in casks made from American white oak, which shaped the sweet character.
Nose: intense aromas of toffee and fresh vanilla at the beginning, followed by aromas of ripe tropical fruits, especially mango and papaya - above all hints of nuts and spicy nutmeg
Taste: mouth-filling - soft and creamy with clear notes of ripe pears and red apples, plus elegant toasted notes of fresh baguette paired with light tones of coconut and citrus
Finish: the finish is from medium length, warming and soft, the nutty tones and vanilla are present - with slightly spicy notes

Casg Annamh means 'rare cask' in Gaelic. This expression is significantly influenced by the finest quality, hand-selected Oloroso Sherry casks. The liquid is matured in three types of casks; European oak Sherry casks and two different types of American oak casks resulting in a rich and intense whisky.
