Unit price perIn 2022, we released our own gluten free version of our flagship beer, Punk IPA. This light, golden classic has been subverted with new world hops to create an explosion of flavour. Bursts of caramel and tropical fruit with an all-out riot of grapefruit, pineapple and lychee, precede a spiky bitter finish. When it comes to brewing gluten free beer, we start the process in the normal way, using malted barley to make our wort (a sugary-sweet liquid that forms the fermentable base of our beer). The removal of gluten comes later in the process through an enzymatic addition. The introduction of this enzyme works its magic by binding all of the gluten in that beer, so when we filter the beer the gluten gets filtered out in the process. There?s no witchcraft involved in the process. As our Head of Quality says, ?it?s just simple chemistry?.

The MF Original Gangster?Al Capone. A True New England IPA. Thick, juicy will suck
the moisture from your mouth and make sure you cannot taste anything after
drinking. This beer popular with hopheads and perhaps why they always talk about
hops? I imagine Al Capone may have done this to his enemies. Talk about hops I
mean.

THE YARN BEHIND THE BREW
At the height of the Great War in 1916, German Raider SMS Wolf sailed from Germany to disrupt and sink Allied shipping. She ventured as far as Taranaki, laying mines that claimed at least two ships off the shores of Aoteraora in what was the first known hostile act against New Zealand.
One keen Coastal local by the name of Frank Mace, discovered a mine just off Surf Highway 45, pulling it ashore using chains. It would undergo a controlled detonation on the beach watched by many keen onlookers, as the explosion rocked houses as far as New Plymouth?s hills, leaving a massive crater that swept along the beach.
This West Coast IPA explodes with a minefield of Citrus and Tropical hops over a malt base, and was first brewed for Malthouse WCIPA Challenge 2024 in Wellington, New Zealand.
