A product of Miyagi, a premier sake producing region, to make this sake, quality rice is milled down to 60% of its original size for an irresistibly pure flavour. This sake has a wonderful roundness, is lively and dynamic with a subtle fruit suggestion and a beautiful rich viscosity, perfect alongside sashimi and sushi.

ZENKURO - This is New Zealand's first ever sake, handcrafted since 2015, in Queenstown.  Our fresh, Premium grade junmai style of sake is pure, nothing added, but give a unique twist with the use of Manuka timber, NZ's own miracle tree.

Our brand is Zenkura - while 'zen' means all, 'kuro' means black - a simple but powerful combination born in NZ.  We start with water from the snow-capped Southern Alps and special sake rice that has been milled to remove the outer30- 40%, leaving only the best part of each grain for the fermentation to begin.

Untouched – Muroka Nama Genshu – Jyunmai Ginjo 1

Zenkuro UNTOUCHED Muroka nama genshu is a very special style of sake which can only be produced in small amounts from each batch of sake. Only the sake from the very middle part of the pressing process is used, after it has been laboriously drip pressed. This middle take is the cleanest and most delicate portion of sake. Without processing, aging or blending, it immediately offers up sake with naturally well balanced flavours, gentle umami, soft viscosity and delightful aromas. In order to share this with you, the sake has been bottled in this fresh, untouched condition; un-filtered, unpasteurised and un-diluted.

Acustic is an old vines blend of Carignan and Garnatxa from the Montsant region in Spain. This is a somewhat Rhone-like wine with red fruit flavours complemented by balanced spice and herbal notes. This expressive wine is bottled without fining or filtration.

Just when we’re thinking how great modern Chardonnay is, along it comes in a surprisingly complex, surprisingly dry blend with Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris. And it comes from one of the chilliest places in the world of wine today, Patagonia in South America.

Flavours of tropical fruit, citrus and Turkish Delight all combine in this funky fleshy, full bodied white which was aged in French oak foudres and concrete vats for nearly 20 months.

This wine is dry with 2.18 grams per litre of residual sugar. 

Bodega Otronia is situated in the heart of Patagonia at parallel 45 south, the last frontier for winemaking and grape growing. High winds, a cold and dry climate all make organic wine production relatively smooth sailing here.

Stunning full bodied red blend from Spain, made from 70% Carignan and 30% Garnacha from 60 to 80 year old vines, which were planted on stony vineyard sites at high altitude. Grapes were destemmed and macerated for 15 days. The wine was aged for 13 months in new and one year old, low toast French oak barriques. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered.

The word Braó is Catalan for strength, courage and valour; three qualities this wine encapsulates beautifully.

"Deep, shimmering violet. Intense dark berry, cherry cola and floral pastille aromas are complicated by baking spice and smoky mineral flourishes. Sappy and energetic on the palate, offering bitter cherry and blackberry flavors that show spicy back-end lift. Smooth, well-knit tannins frame the persistent finish, which features lingering mineral and floral notes."

Fontana Bodegas, who produce this wine, is based in Castilla la Mancha in Central Spain, and the grapes for this cheeky quaffer are sourced from the municipality of Ucl?s. where they grow at a height of 700-900 metres. The winemaking team consists of oenologist Tom?s Buendia and New Zealand based Master of Wine Sam Harrop, and their aim is to produce wines that offer an interesting modern take on local wine traditions, giving both a sense of place and remarkable value.

This is an elegant example of dry Muscat, showing the freshness and balance of high altitude vineyards. Pale, bright yellow, intensely aromatic and expressive on the nose, with aromas reminiscent of lychees, grapefruit and rose petals. Light bodied and very fresh on the palate, with the intense fruit perfectly balanced by the crisp acidity and a dry, mineral finish.

A silky red with light spicy aromas and lovely depth of flavour with layers of red and dark fruit on the palate due to the inclusion of four different grapes in the blend of this wine. Three French grapes lead the way with Shiraz 56%, Grenache 17% and Cinsault 17%, all supported here by the dark deep flavours of Portugal's Tinta Barocca which contributes 10%. 

A portion of foot stomping helps to extract colour and juice prior to fermentation.
Ageing is in older, larger 4000 litre oak for 16 months.

From the winery...
The 2014 AA Badenhorst is our ninth release of this appellation wine. The wine has the potential to age very gracefully for the next decade or so. The tannins are prominent and well integrated and refreshing as a number of the parcels were picked quite early. The aromas are more upfront than normal with complex notes of pepper, liquorice, perfume and black cherries. The palate entry is quite dense with lavender and dark berry fruit. The finish is dry with well spread tannins ending with savoury and currant flavours.

Dry, silky Spanish red field blend of Garnacha, Rufete and Pinuela (also known further afield as Tempranillo). This incredibly affordable wine is a bit of a maverick not only due to offering such fab value for money but in being a lighter style with depth from a country renowned for its big bold red vinos. Drinks well now and can definitely age further too. 

Barbazul is a Spanish red blend of Tintilla de Rota, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose is complex, with notes of red fruits, fig leaf and a touch of citrus, leading to a  palate that is tasty and fruit forward, with a lively acidity.

Garnacha with structure and weight as well as approachable red fruit appeal and smooth mouthfeel. This lovely new wine is one of a range of great reds based on the Grenache grape grown in Sierre de Gredos, east of Madrid in Spain's hot arid interior. 

The granite soils, native yeasts and French oak that go into this wine all contribute to the complexity, depth and deliciousness in this impressive Spanish red.

Succulent dry white modelled on the great dry whites of Bordeaux. This classic and beautifully balanced, bone dry blend contains 44 % Sauvignon Blanc, 36 % Semillon, 11 % Clairette Blanche and 9% Chenin Blanc from South Africa's Western Cape.

"There is no doubt that Duncan Savage is one of the best white wine winemakers in South Africa. His track record speaks for itself. Taming Sauvignon Blanc and more so, Semillon, from cool climate sites in the Cape, has revealed the real potential of these varietals in a blend to a whole new generation of winemakers and consumers. The 2015 however, must be Duncan's most anticipated wine with the vintage lauded as possibly the best ever in SA for white wines. A Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon based blend incorporates small amounts of Clairette Blanche and Chenin Blanc this year. This slightly bigger blend perhaps explains the wines broader aromatic profile. There is still the dusty lemon and herb spice, yellow grapefruit and lime peel freshness, but also extra notes of white pear, white pepper, white crunchy peaches and green apple zest. Once again, the pithy minerality of crushed gravel underpins both the nose and palate and there's an almost German, Pfalz-like strawberries and vanilla ice cream exotism in play. The palate is bold, intense and concentrated with pithy gravelly notes balanced by massive fruit concentration and length. The vintage's sublime quality is indeed standing up to be counted! Duncan has perfectly captured the essence of 2015's greatness. But the wine remains classical, measured, restrained and fresh and finally unlocks its hallmark lemon and pineapple pastille fruit character on the long, intense finish.
