It's the 2007 vintage Distillers Edition from Talisker. These expressions are allowed a finishing period in casks that previously held Amoroso sherry, which plays wonderfully with the distinctive coastal salinity of Talisker's single malt. This one was bottled in 2017 at 45.8% ABV.
Nose: Toffee, seaweed, a sharp hint of fresh citrus fruit, milky coffee.
Palate: Juicy pineapple and apple, balanced by a kick of sea spray. Some light vegetal hints of fresh thyme and basil.
Finish: Lingering smoke and dried fruit.
Opened in 1825, just one year after distilling on a large scale was legalised, the Glencadam Distillery continues to produce its rather delicate Single Malt Scotch Whisky in the same fashion it did in 1825.
Colour: Straw Gold
Nose: Lively, intense. Grassy freshness and citrus tones with hints of spicy oak.
Palate: Rounded elegance. Clean crisp citrus tones. A pleasing harmony between a natural sweetness and the soft spicy oak.
Finish: Long and soothing. Rich, clean barley and gristy sweetness.
The Glencadam 10 year old won the award for Best Highland Single Malt Whisky 12 years and under at the World Whiskies Awards in 2009.
Matured for 18 years, this is indulgent and spicy thanks to the casks selected for maturation.
Taking its character and colour entirely from the casks within which it has been nurtured, this is a deeply warming whisky. The indulgence extends through this single malt with chocolate and spice defining the character but allowing for the influence of more vibrant zesty flavours.

Unit price perMaster distiller Bill White selects individual casks matured exclusively in traditional
american oak whisky barrels before marrying them together for a further maturation in casks that have previously been used for making fortified madeira wine. the madeira cask finish enhances the orchard fruit character of peach and pear with marzipan and nutmeg and gives a dry nuttiness to the long, oak finish.
Part of the new core range of whiskies launched by Isle of Jura in early 2018, this 10 year old expression takes the place of Jura Origin. It's initially aged in American white oak bourbon barrels before enjoying a finishing period in Oloroso sherry butts and bottled at 40% ABV. It has the subtle smoke characteristic of Jura's excellent Island single malts, with robust vanilla and an intense kick of sherried sweetness underneath.
The much-anticipated release of Kilchoman's 'Casado' has arrived just in time for Christmas, offering Kilchoman's rich, peaty whisky that was given an additional 2 years marrying in specially made Portuguese ex-red wine vats known as Casado's.
TASTING NOTES:
Nose: Opens with an intense note of a sea-side bonfire on an Islay beach, with summer fruit, plum and cherries surrounded by peat smoke.
Taste: There is pronounced pepper & spice, dry and salty with peat and lemon, with apricot compote following.
Finish: A sticky, jammy flavour builds alongside a cooked fruit character, distinctly Kilchoman to its beautifully smokey finish.
You can spend years waiting for a new release in Talisker's core range then two come along at once! Hot on the heels of Talisker Storm in early 2013 comes Talisker's Port Ruighe, pronounced 'Port Ree'.
This no age statement release is finished in Port wine casks, imparting a new dimension to this Isle of Skye single malt.
Nose: After a wave of initial sea spray, the nose becomes more complex with Crayola crayons, orange pith and a touch of white chocolate. Demerara and even sticking plaster emerge briefly along with plummy, umeshu notes.
Palate: Initial characteristic Talisker brine once again but much sweeter than usual. Thick and mouth coating like the Storm with chilli and a little chocolate orange. Increasingly smoky - much smokier than the nose suggests.
Finish: Milk chocolate becomes cocoa and oak with mocha notes and the faintest hint of that orange pith once again.
Matured in two types of casks, the traditional oak and sherry oak casks and bottled at a slightly lower abv of 40% than previous editions, this 16 year old Aberlour is bursting with lush plum, raisin and even floral notes. A cracking Speyside malt.
A fruity and spicy release from Aberlour, this 16 year old has been matured in a combination of sherry butts and first-fill bourbon casks.

Unit price perMackinlay's - Shackleton ordered 25 cases of Mackinlay's Rare Old Highland Malt Whisky to take on his expedition of 1907. In 2007, eleven intact bottles containing this perfectly preserved whisky were recovered from under the ice beneath Shackleton's base camp.
This has inspired our Master Blender, Richard Paterson, to create this Shackleton whisky as a personal and deeply felt project. He has combined the best Highland malt whiskies, allowing them to marry over a long period to create an enigmatic blended malt with a dash of body and a whisper of smoke. It has complex notes of vanilla, honey and orchard fruits with real warmth and depth at it's heart, like Shackleton himself.
