Unit price perNew Zealand made single malt whiskey, 6 years of aging in old Manuka honey mead barrels.
The result speaks for itself in a very gentle easy to drink whiskey.
This small batch single malt is one of only a few true honey malt whiskeys produced in the world today. It all started in 1998 in a rural Golden Bay shed where WAITUI WHISKEY was born, distilled from a malt mash, then aged in French oak honey mead wine barrels, and finally balanced with the ancient waters of the Te Waikoropupu aquifer resulting in a distinctive single malt honey whiskey. Only small batches of the ?Waitui Malt Whiskey? are produced then hand bottled and labelled ready for sale.
Waitui Manuka Honey Malt Whiskey goes back to the first age whiskeys made by monks that brewed honey mead and drank ale. Distilling in the United Kingdom first arrived around 500AD. Back then they had no sherry or bourbon barrels, but they did have honey mead barrels. They also made barley beer or malt mash which is the starting point of any malt whiskey. The Scottish want us to jump forward 1000 years to John Corr in 1494 who they say made the first whiskey. In this 1000 year gap was the first world whiskeys time of creation. Ageing a malt mash distillate in oak mead barrels is where it all began. Now in new world New Zealand we are going back and have created Waitui Manuka Honey Malt Whiskey.
"No malt blends or additives, only malt mash", explains owner and production manager, Terry Knight. ?The delicate oak gives our whiskey its ?weight? but the distilled malt and ageing in Manuka honey mead wine barrels delivers an almost toffee taste that?s in perfect balance with the malt.?

It's the very first release of Drumshanbo Single Pot Still Irish whiskey, produced by The Shed Distillery! Made with a combination of malted Irish barley, unmalted Irish barley and Irish Barra oats, this one is triple distilled and matured in a combo of Oloroso sherry casks and Kentucky bourbon casks. An impressive expression from the excellent distillers (their Drumshanbo Gunpowder Gin is favourite among many), and it's said to be the first whiskey to come from Connaught in over 100 years.
Nose: Vanilla heavy, with grassy malt and honeyed porridge. A slow build of spiced fruit compote and chocolate mousse.
Palate: Christmas cake, buttered rye bread, red chilli flake, milk chocolate again and some flamed orange peel brightness.
Finish: Raisin, hazelnut spread, drying spices.

This Aerstone 10 year old Land Cask Single Malt Whisky is produced by William Grant & Sons at the Ailsa Bay Distillery located on the Ayrshire coast of the Scottish Lowlands.
Unlike its whisky counterpart named Sea Cask, Land Cask is matured at a warehouse much further inland, and the use of Highland peat makes it a more sweet and smoky whisky.
Nose: Earthy peat smoke and vanilla pod, with a briney note, black pepper, smoked meats and burnt rubber, with just a touch of fresh fruity sweetness.
Palate: Balanced sweet and smoky notes, with aniseed, burnt brown sugar, charred oak and salted honeycomb. Then there's olive brine, barbecued citrus fruit and smoked meats.
Finish: Sweet and smoky battle it out on the finish, with vanilla fudge and peat smoke alongside dry, spicy oak.

Unit price perTwo Tone refers to the two kinds of cask used for the maturation of this whisky; European oak which formerly held New Zealand red wine and American white oak used exclusively for whisky.
Find sea air and caramelised fruits on the nose, followed by red berries, apricot and spice on the palate. In place of an age statement the infinity symbol marking this bottling is symbolic of the marriage of casks.

This is a single malt from the Miyagikyo distillery, Nikka's second distillery built in 1969. The founder Masataka Taketsuru chose this site in the mountains of Sendai to contrast with his first distillery, Yoichi, located in the coastal area. Using less peaty malt and distilled in a pot still heated by indirect steam, Miyagikyo single malt has an elegant fruitiness and a distinctive aroma with a strong Sherry cask influence.
A very interesting whisky from one of Scotland?s most northerly distilleries, the Orkney-based producer, Scapa! This whisky has been matured in American oak casks, before being finished in barrels that once held smoky, peated malt whisky. This is an excellent, lightly peated dram which serves as a stepping stone to the more powerfully smoky malts of the scotch world. Glansa is a nod to the Nordic history of Orkney, with the term meaning ?shine? in Icelandic and ?gloss? in Norwegian. On the nose, this dram opens up with sweet fruity flavours of pineapple, peach, mango and overripe banana, accompanied by a gentle peat smoke. The palate returns the peach and tropical fruit notes of the nose, adding vanilla and oak flavours with the same elegant smoke. The finish is long, smoky and spiced, with plenty of lingering flavour. A lovely little dram that will appeal to fans of both gentle and powerful whiskies.
