Sauvignon Blanc

Seaspray Sauvignon Blanc is a beautiful tangy expression of New Zealand's most popular grape variety, only this time it's grown in the a coastal subregion of the windy Awatere Valley where the salty sea air provides its influence to the wines. This Sauvignon is bone dry after being fermented in stainless steel tanks with a little time on yeast lees to build weight and texture to the flavours of this lively wine.

?Meltwater is a new collection of small batch organic wines with texture and interest ? No formula here, just deliciously crisp and pure wines that express everything we love about Marlborough. The wines are named for the glacial meltwaters of the last ice age, which flowed from the high country of Marlborough, depositing sedimentary rock material as they criss-crossed the valleys below.? ?Mike & Anna Paterson, Corofin



Tasting Note: Picked ripe but still with a citrus core and good acidity. As with the 2021, plenty of pithy, waxy dry extract which is texturally very appealing. Plenty of interest and seductive on release.

Winemaking Notes: Hand harvested April 10th 2022. Natural ferment in older puncheons. Slow and steady primary fermentation over 7 months, stopping at 4gl RS; full malolactic fermentation on original lees. Racked, filtered and bottled March 2023. Biogro certified 6110. Only 65 cases made.

Hand harvested organic Sauvignon Blanc from the Osawa vineyard in Hawke's Bay. Wild fermentation in two French oak barriques and a portion of tank fermentation. Aged ?sur lie? for 4 months. 

Complex Sauvignon Blanc for the adventurous, bursting with ripe fruits, citrus and a textured palate with a twist of wild herb.

Alluviale Sauvignon Semillon 2015 is made from 81% Sauvignon Blanc, 14% Semillon, and 5% Muscat Petit Grains. It is partly barrel-fermented and has strong tropical fruit flavors.

Sauvignon Blanc adds fruit character and refreshing acidity, while Semillon adds body, texture, and complexity. When all elements come into harmony and balance, the result is a wine greater than the sum of its parts. The end result is dry and  full bodied with medium to high acidity

An exceptional, fruit forward, but complex, organically certified Sauvignon Blanc from one of the greatest vineyards in Marlborough - The Settlement Vineyard. This is a large, certified organic site on a sloping hillside in Marlborough's southern valleys. 

A combination of two Kiwi icons: Sauvignon Blanc and Dancing Sands Dry Gin. State-of-the-art vacuum distillation means we are able to retain the complex flavours of the wine, while adding botanical sophistication from our Dry Gin.

The end result is a full-bodied and fruity gin that brings you bursting passionfruit, gooseberry, lime, and green apple ? all the tropical flavours you know and love from a New Zealand Sav Blanc, but with added punch and pizazz.

WINEMAKING

The vintage of 2023 was a challenging year climatically, very wet, and humid with low sunshine hours and periods of intense rain culminating in flooding in late January and Cyclone Gabrielle in early February.  The weather improved for the harvest months, but low sunshine hours resulted in wines with a light elegant touch, fresh, lively, and delicious in their delicacy.

Our Sauvignon Blanc vineyards are elevated hillside sites, grown on volcanic-influenced soils and exposed to cooling sea breezes. Dry grown and hand harvested before being gently whole bunch pressed, the juice is racked clear and fermented in tank with cultured yeasts, then blended, f iltered, and bottled in the winter. 

TASTING NOTE

Our 2023 Estate Sauvignon Blanc is a classically styled, wonderfully f resh aromatic wine. With clean bright aromas of snow pea and freshly chopped herbs the palate has citrus and elderflower characters, finishing with a refreshing crisp mineral purity. A fresh breezy wine that displays beautiful balance with a mineral delicacy, perfect for summer drinking.

From a 40-year-old Sauvignon Blanc planting, the oldest in the region - this wine shows a deeply aromatic nose of honey suckle, lime and jasmine. On the palate it is silky with a phenolic grip that helps balance the acidity which is long but subtle. Notes of goose berry and white peach. This is a wine to drink now or to cellar

One of the best value Sauvignon Blancs made in New Zealand and a zesty little charmer with its vibrant tropical and fresh herb aromas, coupled with tingling acidity and a long finish.

Fantastic value for money, dry and flinty with brief lees maturation adding depth, which balances the fresh acidity in this zesty little wine. It was fined once and lightly filtered before bottling.  

Clos Henri began 22 years ago in Marlborough when the French Bourgeois family expanded their winemaking from the heart of Sancerre in the tiny village of Chavignol to Blenheim, in 2001. Now that their vines are 22 years of age , the family feels that they are only now starting to reflect and express the taste of the land. This family retains their land and winemaking in Chavignol where they have made wine for 11 generations.

Fleshy, complex, creamy and full bodied, this organically certified Sauvignon Blanc is an outstanding take on the popular theme, throwing Sauvignon in a refreshing new, smooth, soft and citrusy light. 

The organic story at Seresin

One of the greatest things about Seresin Estate is the organic certification. This came relatively early on for Seresin, who was dismayed by the amount used and the impacts of man made chemicals, which were routinely and frequently sprayed on vines. His early adopting philosophy of organic certification paved a positive path for the integrity of the wines as well as leading others to follow suit.
