This year marks 15 years of crafting delicious 8 Wired beers in Aotearoa. To celebrate, we’re releasing a series of special 15th-birthday beers, each a twist on some of our original brews. Here we’re stoked to share with you the 2nd release in this birthday bash. 

 Søren has always wanted to brew an imperial coffee stout, so for 8 Wired’s 15th birthday, he finally got around to making one! We’ve taken the base recipe for the iconic iStout, and cranked the ABV right up. Using an intense, rich, espresso blend from our friends at Rush, this is a truly one mighty coffee experience!

Meet a special new dry Martinborough rose made from Pinot Noir grapes grown on Porters Pinots Vineyard, which is situated at the start of the Wairarapa's most famous wine village. Tasty, dry and pale in colour, following the trend for light coloured, flavoursome pink wines.

Pale ale and crystal malt, chocolate malt, special blend of sugars, Fuggle and Goldings hops, real dark chocolate and chocolate essence. Chocolate malt and real dark chocolate are combined with Young's award winning rich, full flavoured dark beer to craft a satisfyingly indulgent, but never overly sweet experience. Mena Dhu stout is complex and flavoursome, yet deceptively light and refreshing. A subtle oak smoked aroma sets the scene for a delicious flavour profile that entices with a hint of dark chocolate, followed by a delicate touch of liquorice on the finish.

It?s brewed using a blend of six malts ? traditional and pale malts for richness and depth, chocolate and smoked malts for a distinctive taste, and malted oats and roasted barley malts to enhance the finish.

Based on an original Cornish recipe, Mena Dhu means ?black hill? in Cornish and is named after the farm that was owned by Walter Hicks, the founder of St Austell Brewery.

This brew is a meeting of (highly caffeinated) minds with fellow Wellington craft obsessives, Flight Coffee. The result is a balanced blend of rich coffee notes with a creamy caramel body. As they say, birds of a feather should collab together. We agree.

Smooth, sultry and creamy with notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee and a dash of salted caramel. Loaded with oats and wheat, this beer drinks whisper-soft allowing the rich, toasted flavours some room to mellow out and get loose. Drop the needle on the record and turn up the volume for this one.

Named for a retired California Western Railroad steam engine on the Fort Bragg to Willits run through the Redwoods, Old No. 38 Stout is a smooth, firm-bodied stout with the toasted character and coffee notes of dark malts and roasted barley.

Minerva Stout, our pride craft beer is a full bodied, dark color, aroma and flavor of cocoa and coffee, sweet stout style Ale type fermentation. The friendly and round flavor Minerva Imperial Stout marries perfectly with sweet flavors like chocolate truffles or the duck confit with light garlic mayonnaise, so it is excellent for red meats in general.
