A terrific single malt from The Balvenie. This Speysider was initially aged in traditional oak casks before it was finished in casks which previously held Caribbean rum, imparting some extra sweetness and warmth to the whisky. In fact, to create it, Balvenie malt master David C. Stewart made his very own blend of West Indian rums, filled it into casks, and then eventually replaced the rum in said casks with Balvenie's whisky! The fabulous result is a well-rounded whisky with notes of toffee, fruit and vanilla.
Nose: The aroma is rich with notes of tropical fruits, namely passion fruit, and creamy toffee.
Palate: Sweet vanilla forms a creamy palate with notes of apples and mangoes with a hint of orange in the background.
Finish: The finish lingers with a vanilla focussed character.
During his time in Scotland, Charles Edward Stuart would carry with him a mysterious draught, from which he would drink a few drops every day. Nobody knew for certain what this formula was; only that it had been created by the Royal Apothecary. The apothecary would have imbued the drink with protective properties. He must have chosen Cloves - a dried flower bud of an Indonesian tree. This aromatic spice is still used for its powerful analgesic properties. Only the most prized spices would have been used. Many are convinced that saffron was the main ingredient. Not only was it renowned for its medical and sedative properties, but it would also have given the drink its rich golden colour. The secret selection of herbs, spices and Scottish heather honey is then infused by hand into the Scotch whisky base. Malts from the Speyside andHighland regions, renowned for their softness and smoothness, are used to complement the herbs and spices of the elixir. A unique highland spirit royal in appearance, exquisite in taste and deliciously potent. Source: drambuie.com

Unit price perPure Eden is a bold expression of Shiraz from a single vineyard site in the Eden Valley, which was vineyard planted by Charles Angas in the 1890s. The vineyard was later owned by the Shiltons from 1911 to 1926; Meakins 1926 to 1929; Roeslers 1929 to 1961; Andretzkes 1961 to 2011 and, now, by the Lindner family. This wine is a reward of these guardians’ efforts for more than 100 years.
This wine is a beautifully ripe Shiraz with rich blackberry and blueberry flavours and aromas of black olive, cedar, earth and white pepper. Velvety tannins add structure and texture to this wine. Ageing was for 24 months in French oak, 47% new and the balanced pre-used oak.
Langmeil is owned by the Lindner family, which has been making wine for six generations in the Barossa Valley.
