Amrut Fusion is made from both Indian malted barley and Indian malt smoked with Scottish peat. Each malt is distilled separately and then combined in ex-bourbon barrels.

Tasting Notes
Nose : Heavy, thickly oaked and complex: some curious barley-sugar notes here shrouded in soft smoke. Big, but seductively gentle, too;

Taste : The delivery, though controlled at first, is massive! Then more like con-fusion as that smoke on the nose turns into warming, full blown peat, but it far from gets its own way as a vague sherry trifle note (curious, seeing how there are no sherry butts involved) - the custard presumably is oaky vanilla - hammers home that barley - fruitiness to make for a bit of a free-for-all; but for extra food measure the flavours develop into a really intense chocolate fudge middle which absolute resonates through the palate;

Finish : A slight struggle here as the mouthfeel gets a bit puffy here with the dry peat and oak; enough molassed sweetness to see the malt through to a satisfying end, though. Above all the spices, rather than lying down and accepting their fate, rise up and usher this extraordinary whisky to its exit;

Amrut Bagheera Single Malt Sherry Cask Finish 700ml - Indian

This single malt exhibits vibrant fruity notes with a tone of dried fruits and peach complemented with mild orangey citrus, vanilla and toffee.

TASTING NOTES:
Nose: Nice sweetness, a little artificial, gummy bears, light peat, tutti frutti. Overall, a nice sweet and fruity, but spicy nose.
Taste: nice spice, pepper, spices, a little more sherry character than on the nose, marginal peat notes, oak.
Finish: Pepper, oak spice, sweet notes, again a little undifferentiated, a little sherry, a hint of peat. Interesting combination.

Released in 1964 for the first time to supply whisky to the large part of the Japanese population that were looking for whisky as a preferred tipple. Named after the growing Hi-Fi sound movement, rumour has it that the great Masataka Taketsuru had a dram of this almost every day. Bottled at 39% ABV and in a 720ml bottle. A smooth easy drinking whisky and great for a highball cocktail during the warmer months.

Nose: Fruity with orange citrus, subtle oak and honey sweetness.

Palate: Citrus driven with fresh grain and soft peat smoke.

Finish: Sweet fruits and balanced oak.

Black Nikka was launched in 1965 as Nikka's premium blended whisky, the Nikka Black Deep Blend whisky uses malt aged in new oak barrels. This is a completely different profile to the standard 'Black Nikka', smoother and more elegant with floral notes and light oak and vanilla sweetness.

Black Nikka Rich Blend is made from Miyagikyo malt, with non and low proof, with a high proof Yoichi seasoning, with key components matured in ex-sherry casks. The complexity of the malts - sweet and full-bodied - is balanced by the lightness of the Coffey grain whisky. This is a completely different profile to the standard 'Black Nikka', smoother and more elegant.

Part of Nikka?s highly popular Black range, this blend is one of the most popular daily drinkers in Japan. The Nikka Black Clear brings together vintages from the Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries for a light, drinkable expression. Suitable for highballs or to drink neat. Togouchi 9 Year Old Blended Japanese Whisky comes from the town of Togouchi and produced by Chugoku Jozo in underground tunnels. The Japanese brewery, Chugoku Jozo, is located near Hiroshima. They have been producing sake, liqueurs, and the traditional Japanese spirit shochu since 1918.

This whisky is rather intense and pleasant on the nose with dispersing aromas of yellow fruits. The palate has sweet spices, with the appearance of fruity flavors of citrus. In the end, peat and smoke come nicely together.

This intriguing whisky is aged in sherry casks which have been infused with orange peel and wine for 3 years before being emptied and refilled with the unfinished Amrut spirit. This creates an unusual yet delicious whisky with a strong but balanced orange presence.

Time tested tradition, spiced with a dash of innovation, this is the process we followed in making AMRUT INTERMEDIATE SHERRY CASK SINGLE MALT. Newly made spirit, matured in the traditional way in virgin / ex-bourbon casks and is transferred into Spanish ex-oloroso sherry butts wherein it matures for a year more, gaining an added sherry finish. The finishing touch is thus lent by a further period of maturation in ex-bourbon casks. Result: an essay in elegance with subdued sherry notes that bears the tell-tale Amrut Signature of quality and innovation. A worthy successor to the much-acclaimed Amrut Fusion and Amrut Double Cask.

Nose : Instead of the usual biscuit aroma, we now get moist cake. And my word: is it fruity and spicy!! Love the freshly waxed oak floor, too. Brain-explodingly complex and multi-layered with one of the most intriguing sherry-style-bourbon-style marriages on the market;

Taste : Cracking delivery and entirely unique in form. The structure is decidedly oak-based, but acts as no more than a skeleton from which the juicy sultana and spices drape. Salivating, too, as the barley kicks in powerfully. But the liquorice-orangey-honeycomb bourbon theme quietly shapes the flavour profile; the spices pulse and glow;

Finish : Quite a chunk of natural caramel quietens the more exuberant characteristics; long and elegant.

Taiwanese heavyweight Kavalan, most recently ranked 24^th on the World?s Most Admired Whiskies List by Drinks International, is unveiling the global launch of an all new Kavalan Triple Sherry Cask single malt whisky

• Kavalan is launching a new Triple Sherry single malt bottling featuring a mix of whiskies matured in Oloroso, Pedro-Ximenez, and Moscatel Sherry barrels.
• The distillery describes the whisky as having ?characteristics of cinnamon, smoked candied plums and citrus, berry, tropical fruit and longan scents, slightly honey, chocolate and toffee tickle the taste buds cheerfully, just like a supple flamenco dance."
• It will come with an all new packaging which visually expresses the profile of the whisky through intertwining patterns of white, gold and red, which were painted with acrylic, to symbolise the smooth taste of the three Sherry casks used.
• This will be a real balancing act for the Taiwanese distillery as it must avoid becoming overly-sherried, which can be sharp and too intense, whilst drawing out the mellow, honey sweetness from the PX and Moscatel barrels, and the dried fruits from the Oloroso barrels.

Flavour: Ripe, mature berries and dried fruits fill the nose, with fresh scents of grapes and citrus interlaced with chocolate brownie and toffee sweetness. Hints of cinnamon, clover and spiciness, blend into pleasant oakiness and fragrant rosemary.

Palate: Lingering flavours of sherry dried fruits. Warm and smooth with a mellow texture. A lively flamenco dance of candied fruit, caramel, and honey sweetness on the taste buds. Multi-layered and perfectly balanced, it's an unforgettable feast for the palate.
