100% Sangiovese. The grapes are picked late to get maximum ripeness from this high altitude vineyard. Fermented in cement tanks with 20% whole bunches. Very long maceration of 4 months gives this wine a rich fruit character which distinguishes it from the more classic styles. Harvested by hand. It is crisp and surprisingly spicy with touches of citrus, stone and red fruits.

"Good bright, dark red.  Pure but restrained nose shows outstanding mineral lift to the aromas of red plum, red cherry, pomegranate and herbs. Densely built but weightless and sappy, with a distinctly juicy fruitiness and energizing minerality to the finegrained fruit and floral flavours. Beautifully delineated and seamless, showing superlative fruit intensity and lift. Long on the dense aftertaste with building, noble tannins. Drinking window: 2028-2045."

Iconic big, full bodied red from the hillside town of Montalcino, which is a small enclave of big wines close to the Tuscan coast. Brunello di Montalcinos by law have to be 100% Sangiovese; the great red grape of Tuscany. Maceration and ageing times are long and result in wines that can be kept in a cool dark cellar for 10+ years, evolving beautiful into even more savoury, velvety reds over that time. 

This lovely smooth wine has a powerful structure with aromas of spice, balsamic and ripe dark fruit.

Asinone is the top expression from Poliziano and only produced in very good vintages. It is 100% Sangiovese and made from the Tuscan town of Montepulciano is the Tuscan town (not the grape from Abruzzo). Vino Nobile is a top village expression of the Sangiovese grape.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a red wine with a DOCG status from the vineyards surrounding the town of Montepulciano (not ot be confused with Montelpulciano d'Abruzzo). This is one of Italy?s most prestigious DOCG's. Predominantly made from the local Sangiovese strain called Prugnolo Gentile, this is luscious structured and powerful wine with the potential to gracefully age for many years.

This dry Italian red classic is a Super Tuscan is a superb collector's wine from the Tuscan coast. It is a non traditional blend of French grapes grown in central Italy;  Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot translate here to a dry, full bodied wine with balancing tart cherry fruit with darker tones of blackberry and plum. This vintage delivers especially chiselled and focused fruit characteristics that are elegantly framed by light spice, cola and earth. This vintage shows a heightened sense of intensity and territorial identity that is the hallmark of this storied estate.

Lots of mint with sage and fresh rosemary to the currant and orange character on the nose, as well as some ripe raspberries. The palate is very refined with creamy and crunchy tannins that run the length of the wine. It shows a crunchy and energetic personality. Give it a year or two to come together, but it?s showing brightness for the vintage. Drink after 2027.

Made with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the Tenuta San Guido 2022 Guidalberto gives you a good taste of the same DNA that brings us one of Italy's greatest wines, Sassicaia, but it's offered in a more immediate style here (thanks to the addition of the Merlot). This warm vintage opens to medium-dark concentration and very plump aromas that take you immediately to blackberry and blackcurrant sitting out in the sun at your local farmers market. The wine shows a soft and gentle side with a pretty level of elegance transmitted through the fruit freshness and the light oak spice that is discernible here but delivered with grace.

Castello Tricerchi Brunello di Montalcino was aged for 24 months in Slavonian oak casks and shows the potential of Sangiovese to age for the very long term. 

Impressive now and a keeper for the wine cellar.

"This 470 hectare estate is located northeast of Siena in the commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga, on the southern border of the Chianti Classico zone. Fèlsina epitomises the powerful style of southern Chianti, where the wines are stylistically more akin to those from Montalcino than their fellow Chianti from Fontodi or Isole e Olena. Domenico Poggiali bought the estate in 1966. Giuseppe Mazzocolin, son-in-law of Domenico, entered the family business in the late 1970s and played a significant role in the growth of the winery. In 1990 Giovanni Poggiali, Domenico's grandson, joined the management and continues his grandfather's enterprise with the same passion. Giuseppe Mazzocolin is now less involved in the running of the estate, and consultant oenologist Franco Bernabei is very much at the helm of the winemaking team." Wine Searcher.

Altitude adds character to this beautiful savoury Chianti Classico from a hillside vineyard in Gaiole; 500 metres above sea level where cool nights preserve freshness. Hand picked grapes were fermented in stainless steel and the wine was aged for 12 months in barriques and stainless steel. 

Flavours run a broad spectrum of flavours from ripe black berries, cherry, wood and spice into a beautifully complex wine with lovely length and excellent potential for further aging in your cellar or dark, cool corner. 

The 2021 Le Difese is redolent of crushed red berry fruit, rose petal, lavender, spice and sweet pipe tobacco. Medium in body yet nicely layered, the 2021 is impeccably balanced. It is also a sheer delight to taste at this early stage. In many vintages, Le Difese is a fruity, forward wine, but the 2021 has a nervy feeling of classicism that is hugely appealing. It's one of my favorite recent vintages. As it has been for some time, Le Difese is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from the estate and Sangiovese purchased from several properties in Chianti Classico, with the energy of Sangiovese very much driving the feel in this vintage.

Vino Novello News comes from Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes grown in the municipalities of Ortona and San Salvo, on the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo.

It is vinified through the carbonic maceration technique in whole clusters at a temperature of 30 ? C for 10 days. The grapes are pressed and spontaneously ferment for 4 days after which the wine is bottled and ready for consumption.

Ruby red in colour, it expresses itself on the nose with hints of red fruits. On the palate it is fresh and harmonious, very pleasant, ready to drink.

It goes perfectly with cured meats, recipes based on mushrooms and grilled chestnuts.
