Speyside Whisky

This Tamnavulin from Cadenhead has spent 14 years maturing in a small selection of ex-bourbon barrels. Aromas of juicy stone fruits soaked in syrup, fresh pineapple, peaches and grapefruit kick off this summery feeling dram. Zesty lemons with banana cake covered in caramel buttercream arrive on the palate. Finally, warm fruits, flat cola and chocolate biscuits come through to finish.

This bottling has been matured in re-charred Bourbon barrels and is light and fruity through and through. The nose is vibrant and refreshing with notes of zesty citrus, moving to sweet raisins covered in chocolate. The sweetness piles on the palate with creamy vanilla custard and marzipan. Finally, delicate creme brulee light pear drops and lemon fondant send this lovely light dram on its way.

14 years old, this Glentauchers-Glenlivet bottled by Cadenhead has been matured in both ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. With pear drops, peaches, treacle and a touch of nutmeg on the nose, we've landed in Scotland for pudding on a winter's night. Flavours of poached pears and vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate flakes come alive on the palate. The finish is a wee glass of mulled wine, rich and warming with orange slices, crushed cloves and dark chocolate.

Owned by a family of whisky lovers, Benromach is a traditional Speyside distillery keeping things simple. Their small team of distillers rely entirely on their sense and expertise to create the finest handmade whisky.Beginning in 2006, Benromach Contrasts: Organic Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the world's since organic single malt whisky. This whisky is matured in virgin American oak casks to provide sweet, malty notes of creamy pepper, coffee, cocoa, and banana flavours.

Distilled in November 2011 and matured in a bourbon cask followed by a virgin oak finish. It was bottled in April 2022 at a natural cask strength of 58,6% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour, as a limited single cask release.

Honey, caramel, and chamomile on the nose flow into a palate of sweet vanilla custard, pepper and burnt candied peanuts with a rich, long minty finish.

Tamdhu's new 'Distinction' celebrates the influence of the distillery's use of American Oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks. The wood (Quercus Alba) used in these barrels offer the flavour of vanilla pudding, dates and chocolate, with a mouth-coating fruit-syrup quality. Cherries and subtle citrus notes cut through on the nose, while the palate and fish are dense and full, with the oak having a final say in spices and chocolate again to finish.

Part of the Secret Speyside Collection, this sumptuous single-malt whisky has been maturing for three decades. Braes of Glenlivet is exactly the kind of distillery that the series was made to showcase: underappreciated and sublime. This expression demonstrates its qualities nicely!

Aged in American oak barrels and hogsheads and distilled in 1989, before the distillery changed its name to Braeval.

The Silvano?s Collection label is produced by Masam, an independent bottling company run by Maryse Accorsi Samaroli, the wife of the legendary Silvano Samaroli. The Samaroli firm has been run by Antonio Bleve since 2008, however casks from Silvano's private collection have also been bottled under the Singles of Silvano Samaroli banner. These were initially supervised by the man himself, but since his death in 2017, the tradition has been lovingly continued by his wife.

This whisky was distilled in 1967 and aged in single casks #4688 and #5425. It was bottled in 2018 to celebrate Samaroli's 50th anniversary in the whisky industry.

Tomintoul distillery was built in Speyside in 1965 by two whisky brokering companies. It was later acquired by the parent firm of Whyte & Mackay, and folded into their portfolio in 1973. While its main function was the provision of its blends, as with all of its distilleries, Whyte & Mackay also had faith in its appeal as a single malt. It was introduced in the iconic "perfume bottles" at the end of the 1970s. The single malt brand was given more of a focus when the distillery was bought by Angus Dundee in 2000, who also introduced a peated variant called Old Ballantruan in 2005. Bottles from independent labels have also been common over the years.

Thanks to years of closure over the past century, Glenglassaugh is a distillery with two types of whisky: very young or very old. This is one of the latter drams, bottled as part of the third batch of single casks released by the distillery. Matured in a cask that previously contained Massandra ? a Crimean fortified wine, similar to sherry ? and bottled in November 2016, it's a rich and dark dram, packed with dried fruit notes.

The pinnacle of the revamped Mortlach range is this 25 year old. Aged in refill American oak casks, this is a rich and flavoursome dram that shows off the distillery's fantastic spirit.

A fantastic 27yo from the BenRiach distillery aged for 27 years in Madeira hogsheads and bottled at 53.9%.

A fusion of unique and rare elements, and clouded in secrecy, Signet is the culmination of a lifetime's experience. A blend of our oldest whisky and spirit matured in a selection of the world's finest casks, this undoubtedly is the richest whisky in the Glenmorangie range.

Of course, whilst the exact secrets of its production are known only to our whisky creators, we can tell you that Signet's melting sweetness and explosive spiciness is, at least in part, caused by our unique roasted 'chocolate' barley malt and the 'designer casks' made bespoke for Glenmorangie from American white oak. This  limited edition, peated single malt Scotch whisky was initially aged in American oak and finished in dark rum barrels. This lends flavours of demerara sugar, caramel, banana and dried fruits. This matches perfectly with the balanced smoky peat backdrop. 

Organic single malt from the brilliant Benromach Distillery, which was distilled back in 2011 and left to mature in virgin American oak casks until 2019. They use organically certified Scottish barley for this expression. An innovative, delicious tipple, this one.

Nose: Toasty oak with warming hints of cinnamon and ginger, balanced by juicy apricot and white grape.

Palate: Banana bread and coffee, with continued ginger heat. Layers of runny caramel as it develops.

Finish: Subtly peppery, with just a whisper of floral smoke lingering.
