Unit price perWhisky explorers searching for a glimpse into the spirit of BenRiach distillery have the chance to experiment with this emerging Speyside single malt in its most non-diluted form, with the release of BenRiach Cask Strength Batch 2. Following on from the successful release of Cask Strength Batch 1, BenRiach distillery Master Blender Rachel Barrie has hand-picked a small selection from 2006, 2007 and 2008 to create this rich, smooth, triple-cask matured expression.
This single malt continues BenRiach's reputation for rich, innovative cask maturation by combining cask strength whisky matured in bourbon barrels, Oloroso sherry casks and virgin oak hogsheads. It has a richer and smoother taste profile to its award-winning predecessor, BenRiach Cask Strength ? Batch 1, which won a Silver Outstanding award at the International Wine and Spirits Competition in 2016.

Unit price perAs an operating distillery, the production of Oban is quite limited. It only has two stills, which are among the smallest in Scotland. The standards at Oban distillery are exacting, and only the finest barley that is malted to their specifications isused. The whisky is well-rounded with distinctive maltiness and shows a misty, briny character against a background of smoke, heather and peat. The mild, temperate climate of the area, warmed by the Gulf Stream and the soft rain also contributes to its style. Oban is indeed a complete style, ideal after dinner, and covering all the bases, it provides a quintessential Scottish single malt experience!

Unit price perThe Glenlivet - This whisky has been called a lot of things in its time: smooth, fruity, complex, sophisticated, entertaining, classic. The Original Malt Whisky Almanac says: ?A first-class malt. One of the most popular malts in the world ? deservedly so.? Representing The Glenlivet?s signature style, this classic malt is first matured in traditional oak, before spending time in American oak casks which impart notes of vanilla and gives the whisky it?s distinctive smoothness. The mineral-rich water that comes from Josie?s Well helps form the flavours during mashing and fermentation, whilst the specific height and width of the copper stills add a delicate yet complex character. Balvenie is the young, strident upstart compared to it's owner and next door neighbour Glenfiddich. The Balvenie team get to experiment a little with their whisky, using weird and wonderful types of wood and new strains of barley etc. The Balvenie Double Wood is their best, and No. 1 whisky.?It's a rich amber in the glass - not quite to the extent of Hugh Hefners velvet drapes - but a warm and inviting hue all the same. The nose is sweet and lifted - bourbon wood doing the job here. Jersey caramels, jaffa, orange zest, and cinnamon buns dominate. It's mellow and sweet on the palate - with great honey-roasted cashew flavours, orange cake and marzipan notes. It finishes remarkably long for a 40% whisky.
A fab Caol Ila from the Distillers Edition series, distilled in 2006. Before it was bottled in 2018, it spent a period finishing in casks which previously held Moscatel sherry, so you can imagine the balance of sweet, savoury and smoke in this Islay whisky!
Nose: Buttered toast and marmalade, with oaky vanilla and sea-washed pebbles.
Palate: Peat smoke supports notes of creamy porridge, apricot jam and figs, with a drizzle of honey.
Finish: More dried apricot and maritime smoke, with candied citrus and a herbaceous backdrop.
