New terroir, new flavours. Nelson Sauvin, Rakau and Cascade, literally picked in the snow on New Zealand's and possibly the world's most southern hop farm, Garston Hops. Situated in the mountainous highlands of Southland, here different soils and extremes of heat and cold push the flavour profiles of the hops we know to new and exciting places. A true taste of the South.

6.0% - Alpine IPA

Golden in colour,k and very approachable, our full bodied IPA uses a blend of highly aromatic NZ hops. a light tropical fruit flavour with a hint of light caramel malt makes this IPA a refreshing beer for all year round.

5.7% ABV.

A juicy Hazy with good amounts of bitterness to keep you refreshed. Hints of citrus, stonefruits & mango.

6.5% ABV 

Mount Lion IPA grabs its name from an iconic local range at Bream Head so we knew this one had to be big and tasty! We packed the kettle full of Idaho 7 and Citra hops for dank orange and citrus with fruit-laden aromas and taste. It’s all balanced on a light, caramel-kissed malt base and smooth bitterness for a super drinkable IPA.

6.5% ABV

A classic IPA named after head brewer Ash's spirit animal, Snow Leopard brings a balanced hop trio of Centennial, Citra and Strata. Strong grapefruit and citrus flavours are paired with light floral notes and a crisp bitterness!

This IPA brewed in a West Coast style highlighting the distinctively fresh tropical and passionfruit notes from the Nectaron & Nelson Sauvin hops. The fresh hops will be supplied by one of our local hop farmers, Mac Hops, and this IPA is just bursting with flavour that will linger and leave you taste buds singing for more.

5.9% ABV.

The Mata Brewery is not only found in sunshine-filled Whakat?ne, but we?re lucky to be located in the awesome little suburb of Coastlands. Where the locals visit their neighbours and friends on quad bikes. You?ll also find the community produce cart regularly filled with kamokamo and avocado, children?s books and tomato plants!

With views of Moutohora and Whakaari, and beautiful golden sand along the coastline. Coastlands is a little community we?re stoked to name this beer after!

From NZ's first dedicated non-alcoholic craft brewery, State of Play, comes a Double Dry Hopped Pale Ale. Double the hops.  Double the brewtiful beery bitterness. Nectaron is a new hop from NZ Hops that has the complete Kiwi signature - it is very fresh, fruity and fun (and yum).  A lot of Nectaron is added as a 'Dry Hop'.  This is at the very end of the brewing process.  Hops added at the very end of brewing will give you the upfront aroma and flavour.

Using a special yeast, this beer is naturally brewed, retaining all the flavour while only producing a tiny amount of alcohol - in this UNFILTERED PALE ALE it is only 0.3% ABV.
