Old Crow - Men of fame, and discriminating taste have for generations enjoyed and preferred this mellow and smoothest of bourbons, first distilled by Dr. James Crow in 1835.  Aged in oak barrels for a minimum of twenty-four months.  It is today that same great formula, which has been handed down from master distiller to master distiller.

Michter's has accomplished something quite novel through its particular use of two different barrels to age the bourbon. For this one-time release, Michter's barrel ages its US*1 Bourbon as usual to full maturation and then transfers it for an additional period of time to a special custom made barrel for finishing. Constructed from wood staves that have been cured by 18 months of air-drying, this unique finishing barrel is toasted for a precise amount of time, but never charred like a typical bourbon barrel.

One of our most limited production items, Michter's 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye continues the legacy of America's first whiskey variety (rye) from America's first whiskey company (Michter's, originally known as Shenk's). After a nearly three year absence from the market, Master Distiller Willie Pratt finally gave the green light for the re-release of Michter's 10 Year Straight Rye in April 2014.

Deep notes of vanilla and toffee, toasted almonds and cinnamon with an ample dose of crushed pepper and a hint of orange citrus.

Named after Bernard Bernheim, one of two German immigrants who founded the Bernheim Distillery in Louisville, KY in the 19th century, Bernheim Wheat Whiskey is distilled and produced by the esteemed Heaven Hill Distilleries company.Bernheim is bottled at 90 proof in a sophisticated, yet unassuming bottle, similar in shape to Woodford Reserve, sealed by a wax-covered cork, and packaged in a slim and attractive reusable box that will fit easily into your cabinet. Instead of the richer, bolder blush of whiskeys distilled from well, anything else, Bernheim?s exudes a light and airy honey color that is non-threatening, even inviting. To the eye, it is more similar to many Scotch or Irish whiskeys than what you may be accustomed to seeing in its American brethren.It has a warm, yet sweet aroma that is delicate without coming off as too wispy. One almost has to wonder at first glance if it will taste syrupy, as its texture seems to threaten, but will likely be pleased to find that it has a fruity, nutty flavor that seems to miss the tongue and leave the drinker wanting another taste right away. Since the 1990’s, the Michter’s team has been doing pioneering work to re-establish the high quality American Rye whiskey category. 

The May 2015 inaugural release of Michter’s US*1 Barrel Strength Rye marked yet another milestone in that quest. 

For maturation, the Rye distillate is entered into the barrel at 103 proof, rather than amore industry standard higher proof. Barrel entry at a lower proof of 103 rather than a higher proof costs Michter’s more money in terms of barrels and warehousing, but they believe it yields a richer, smoother, more full-bodied whiskey after proper maturation. 

A single barrel product, each barrel of Michter’s US*1 Barrel Strength Rye is bottled at its particular alcohol level at the time of bottling. The majority of barrels in the releases range from 107 to 112 proof. 

As a 4 year old, little wood is evident in itsflavour. Instead it shows its cereal roots and a foxyquality from its wild yeast strain. This gives Jim Beam White a uniqueflavour not apparent in other Beam products. The colour is a nice, balancedamber, more red than orange. The nose is slightly perfumy. Basil Hayden?s Bourbon is one of four bourbons that comprise Jim Beam?s Small Batch Bourbon Collection. The others are Knob Creek, Baker?s Bourbon, and Booker?s Bourbon. Basil Hayden?s falls first in line proof-wise at 80 proof. While the other three bourbons in the Small Batch Collection all share the same mashbill of 77% corn, 13% rye, and 10% malted barley, Basil Hayden?s is created using Jim Beam?s high-rye mashbill that is found in Old Grand-Dad and Old Grand-Dad 114.

Basil Hayden?s is named after the late Master Distiller Basil Hayden Sr. who was known for his use of high rye bourbon mashbills.

Originally released for the Travel Retail market, this edition of Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey is bottled at 100 proof, adhering to the rules sets as part of the Bottled in Bond Act, which was passed all the way back in 1897. The bumped-up ABV helps bring forward the bright fruit and oak spice notes. Aromas of cooked fruit dusted with cinnamon, toasted brown sugar and almond. Green apple and fried banana on the palate, paired with maple syrup and punchy black pepper. Oak and toffee stick around on the finish.

Unlike Bourbon or Rye, which, by definition, must be aged in new oak barrels, the US*1 Unblended American Whiskey is aged in a way that utilizes whiskey-soaked barrels to achieve a rich and unique flavor profile. Crucially, the US*1 Unblended American Whiskey never contains grain neutral spirits – hence its “unblended” distinction.

Nose: Polished oak, buttery corn and a kick of caraway spiciness.

Palate: Wonderfully creamy on the palate, boasting notes of butterscotch, golden syrup and sultanas.

Finish: Corn appears again, with peach and apple alongside it.
