The John Walker & Sons Celebratory Blend is inspired by a breakthrough moment, the release of Old Highland Whisky in the 1860s, which was created primarily for export and became the first of our whiskies to travel from Scotland to the four corners of the world. With more whisky being sold overseas, the iconic design of the square bottle and uniquely slanted label were distinct and helped the name stand out against other whiskies. John Walker & Sons Celebratory Blend is a sensorial journey featuring notes of sweet dried raisins, subtle spice and marzipan, which develop into hints of roasted nuts, icing sugar sweetness and gentle peat, with a soft pepper finish. It celebrates an historic moment in our story.

Crafted from the four corners of Scotland, it crackles with spice and is bursting with vibrant, smoky flavours ? followed by a mellow bed of vanilla, a fresh zestiness and the Johnnie Walker signature of a long, lingering, smoky finish.

Macleods 8yo Speyside Single Malt 40% reviewed at our Drma For Your Buck tastings May 2011:; Citrous yeasty nose, dusty bananas, sweet, complex, rich raisins, some sherry oak, varnish, pears, marmalade, rubber gloves, fruit cake, spice,leather, creaming soda, wood smoke, rumballs, cocnut, wet socks. Easy palate, liquorice allsorts, lively, bitter leather notes but caramel too. Sweet finish, sugar water, bitter oak, bourbon, pepper, green bananas, oily soap, short/medium length.;RWS/DMM;;A recognisable sherry character and subtle smokiness. A peaty variant of the excellent Monkey Shoulder blended malt! This expression retains all the elements that make it great for use in cocktails and mixed drinks, with the addition of soft peaty hints running through it

Master of Malt - Monkey Shoulder Scotch is a superb blended malt whisky from William Grant, made with single malts from three famous Speyside distilleries. The result is a smooth, creamy, supple and very malty Scotch which works superbly well neat, over ice, or in whisky cocktails (where it really excels).

Combining a splendid blend of single malt whiskies (it is thought from Glenturret, Highland Park and Macallan), Naked Malt is allowed to mature in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks. The name refers to the fact that the casks have never held whisky before, meaning that all that rich, fruity sherry goodness is imparted straight into this tasty blend! Nice and versatile, it's a solid sipper and ideal to have handy when mixing up some cocktails!

Nose: Smooth and oily with notes of cherry compote, buttered granary toast, malt, custard and peach.

Palate: Sherried and thick with notes of sultanas, sticky toffee pudding, raspberry jam, Victoria sponge, custard and cr?me caramel.

Finish: Medium, with notes of cocoa, oak and just a soupcon of smoke on the very tail.

Named after a famous Englishman, Thomas Parr, who lived during the 15th and 16th centuries. His remains now lie in Westminster Abbey. This particular brand, while now owned by Diageo, was founded in 1909! Awarded as the '2007 World Whisky of the Year', it comes bottled with a funky, brown bottle which oozes character and charm. The bottle is not smooth but is intentionally mottled and wrinkled similar to the skin of a very old man, paying tribute to Thomas Parr, who is the oldest man in the history of England, living for more than 150 years. The taste comes with a firm vanilla tinged with oak and spice begins to rise first, with sawgrass, and green willow following. One with patience will also find flavors of honey and caramel underneath the soft smoke as well.

This heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky is jam packed with coastal air and bonfire ember notes with plenty of power behind it. Not for the faint of heart, this one.

Colour - Glows like a barley field of shimmering gold

Nose - Elegant and refined. Soft delicate honey notes are entwined with vanilla spice, creamy caramel and cinnamon. Then suddenly? the growl of bonfire smoke, sea spray, cardamom and tar rope hits you. The beast is awake!

Taste - You can feel its immense power as it pours onto your palate like a violent thunderstorm. You need to brace yourself. Its ?natural strength? is untamed and ferocious. Yet, seconds later - this beastly peaty, fiery spirit is soon soothed by the warmth of your tongue. Almost immediately a calmness, a stillness pervades as seductive notes of moist banana cake, thick treacle, mocha with whispers of sweet pineapple , ginger and cumin finally come into play to give you an unforgettable aftertaste. Everyone has a little beast in them - this one more than most.
