New Zealand Craft Beer

North End - Just because something is small doesn't mean it won't pack a punch.  The little, delicate, dried flowers of the hibiscus plant are a case in point as they lend a pungent, fruity character, and deep pink colour when added to beer.  The same can be said of Petit Luna.  Hibiscus, Kaffir lime, spicy Belgian yeast and lactic tartness all brew up to a big refreshing blast of flavour fired by a light, low alcoholic beer.

2.5% ABV.

Biscuity pilsner malt and distinctive Motueka and Riwaka hops bringing aromas of lemon and lime. Nelson Sauvin for a tart gooseberry hit. Straw coloured appearance, brilliantly clear, with a long lasting white head. Crisp and bitter. Medium dry finish.

4.8% ABV. 

Zesty crisp and refreshing with grapefruit and citrus aromas

5.0% ABV.

A New Zealand interpretation of an Old English classic.  Our Milk Stout contains a non-fermentable lactose sugar derived from milk.  Deep black and full bodied with mocha and milk chocolate aromatics, it is smooth with a slightly sweet, balanced finish.

5.2% ABV.

Hoptron is a super fruity American Pale Ale, AKA an APA.  

With a light body and a medium bitterness, this beer tastes of citrus and stone fruit. Hoptron is a beer that will leave you refreshed yet wanting more!

5.5% ABV.

Brewing in the old Dunlop Tyre Factory in Upper Hutt, Panhead produce a range of highly drinkable, hop forward, aromatic beers. Port Road Pilsner takes the New Zealand Pilsner style pioneered by Emerson's and Panhead Brewer Mike Nelsons former employer Tuatara and drives it into ever more zesty NZ hop laced territory. Try it with shellfish.

5.2% ABV.

Panhead - Hops are where it starts for the born-again craft head and Supercharger APA is where Panhead delivers. This is an all-American show with Centennial, Citra and Simcoe overwhelming your nose, kicking you in the taste buds and departing with more bitterness than a Palm Springs divorce. It's a seriously addictive combination.

5.2% ABV.

A silky and full stout from one of the fastest growing local craft beer breweries Panhead. They've specially imported caramelized oats to give this stout body and texture, it's big but balanced as is generally the case with anything from Panhead.

5.5% ABV.

Panhead - XPA means Extra Pale, a product of Quickchange's lighter malt base. That delicate colour though is undercut by a glorious hit of alpha oils from Mosaic, Galaxy and Citra hops. Sometimes you don't want your mouth flayed raw and your liver worked to a standstill. Sometimes a few luscious notes of mango, guava, lychee and pineapple can be just the thing.

4.6% ABV.

Our most popular beer, Dragon APA has a slightly sweet aroma with citrus and herbal pine flavours from Mosaic and Falconer?s Flight hops.

The use of Gladfield?s American Ale, Wheat and Medium Crystal malts provide an excellent base for a medium bodied and quaffable APA.

APA - 5.7% ABV.

Parrotdog - Falcons stalk the skies, commanding their territory with focus and intensity; a totem for this American Pale Ale.

Our interpretation of the style takes modern U.S. hop flavours of citrus and tropical fruit and lets them soar on a light and nimble body.

5.4% ABV.

IPA - Mango, apricot, and citrus with a body to back it up.

Naughty Hopper is packing a mouthful of resinous tropical fruit flavours, thanks to Simocoe, Amarillo and Mosaic hops.  These Rockstar hops are low in bitterness but high in juicy goodness.  Late additions and awkward positions are what Naughty Hopper is all about.

8.9% ABV

Liberty Brewing Co. - Halo Pilsner is quite positively a monument of New Zealand Pilsner proudly brewed with glorious Gladfield malts and a free rein of Nelson hops.

You can expect a good lashing of zesty lime citrus peel accented with tropical passion fruit, all shining proudly above rye-cracker malt drizzled with subtle sweet caramel.

5.4% ABV.

Liberty Brewing Co. - Easy drinking designed to be quaffed.  Look at that golden colour & crisp white head glistening in the sun.  Now touch it to the tongue for some of the latest US hops.

5.1% ABV.

Kereru - This smooth, malty scotch ale has been aged for 10 months in French oak red wine barrels that previously held New Zealand whisky Co.  Single malt for more than 20 years.

10% ABV.
